About Zig Misiak
Zig Misiak still sees himself as a student of First Nations history and culture specifically Haudenosaunee (Six Nations/Iroquois). In addition to providing curriculum and related support to the schools in Ontario, Zig Misiak’s mission is to familiarize, coach, present, and mentor businesses and associations regarding Native history and culture.
Background: Over 40 years of involvement with Six Nations
- Developer of School Curriculum - "Six Nations Iroquois Clans Program".
- Consultant - nationally and internationally - on documentaries, books, thesis, movies, educational projects
- Mentor - to Provincial and Federal Ministries, Tourism, Native organizations, Non-native organizations, Correctional institutions, Psychologists
- Historical Re-enactor (Lieutenant and Native Liaison Officer with Butlers Rangers) as well as Honourary Vice-President of the United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada.
- Member of several Advisory Boards - NATV, United States, national advisory board re: Six Nations
- Recipient of a "life time achievement award" for his contribution to Six Nations history/culture.
What I can do for you:
- Presentations on historical topics of choice (i.e. the Clan system, pre contact, Six Nations & the American Revolution, the council, contemporary life).
- Discuss biases, stereotypes, as related to books and visuals.
- Sensitivity training for your staff and/or customers. In collaboration with a professional facilitator in Diversity, Zig Misiak can raise awareness of stereotypes, and bring Native issues into perspective.
