Location of the first contact between General McArthur on the west side
of the Grand River and the Six Nations warriors and other British defenders on the east side

McArthur’s raid along the Grand River November 1814

Follow the path of McArthur’s 700 Kentucky and Ohio raiders as they came through Burford, to the edge of the Grand River where they were confronted by warriors, militia and some regular British troops. We know his path through Mt Pleasant on to Oakland where the battle of Malcolm’s Mill took place. Pictures of significant modern locations will be posted. A historic touring map will soon be released for our communities and tourists.

Brantford, Six Nations, and Brant County have a real place in the history of the War of 1812 and the upcoming 200th Anniversary of the War of 1812 starting in 2012.
