Objective:

To support educators on 3 levels regarding existing Ontario curriculum:

  1. Social Studies, Literacy, Art, Music "The Ontario Curriculum"
  2. The Province's "Finding Common Ground: Character Development"
  3. The Province's "Ontario First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Education Policy Framework".

Iroquois Confederacy
Roles of men and women
Presentations and/or Course material on the development of the Clan system and roles within the Clan families, focus on Clan Mothers, Warriors, Chiefs, European settlers
6 Early contact between Six Nations and Europeans Presentations and/or Course material on the development of the confederacy and Clans/roles, agriculture, arrival of European settlers, treaties, territory disputes
7 French and Native interaction Presentations on Fur trade, trade routes, evolution of Native dependency on trade goods,
Course material on Native Clans and culture
7 Outcome of the French & Indian War, the American Revolution Presentations from 1750's on regarding the alignment of Native allies with European Nations, including 'war stories', evolution of Quebec, Canada and Six Nations territories, presentations include period soldier uniforms and weapons
8 Historic and contemporary issues (treaties, evolution) Presentations from Haldimand Proclamation, 1784 to land issues, treaties in present time
